Born in Quelimane, in 1963, Salimo Amad Abdula graduated in Computing and Finance Management. Salimo Amad Abdula has played a prominent part to support the corporate sector in Mozambique, and an outstanding role within the private sector since 1985. He contributed to institutional development and to the creation of the Mozambique National Trade Association (AMC) and of the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA). He has also been a Member of Parliament after the first multiparty democratic elections in Mozambique. As a member of Parliament, his participation was crucial to link the Mozambican parliament and the private sector. Salimo Abdula is recognized and respected in business, by the government, the civil society and the international donor community. He is known to support the concept that the private sector is the engine of the economical development of Mozambique and also for greater private sector involvement in shaping the economical policy of the government. Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), Chairman of the BoardHaving started his duties as vice president, he was elected president in 2005 and reelected for a second term in June 2008. He chairs the advisory body of the business community to the private sector, organizes and plans actions mediating the impacts on various sectors to support private associations. He oversees the following activities: liaison with government, donors, media and international business partners, development and dissemination of activities of CTA in the development sector and monitoring fiscal policies. He leads the consultative mechanism of the "Working Group", which duties are primarily to avoid obstacles to investment and business development through a better business environment.
